Bylaws CUPE Local 523 – November 2025
On November 15, 2025, the members in attendance at a General Meeting approved several proposed bylaw changes resulting in the set of bylaws provided above. When a local amends their bylaws, before they can be acted on, we are required to send the proposed bylaws to the CUPE National office for approval.
There are two sections in our current bylaws that the membership has approved but the CUPE National Office was not willing to approve. We are currently in discussions with National to determine how to proceed with these two outstanding items. (One is how much notice to give when proposing a bylaw change, and the other is how to deal with a tie vote on the third round of an election results in a tie.)
With the exception of those two items, the remainder of our bylaws are in full effect and can be found above.
