Collective Agreements

A collective agreement is a legally binding contract between the union and the employer that outlines the terms and conditions of employment for unionized workers. It covers a range of issues such as wages, benefits, working hours, job security, health and safety, grievance procedures, and other workplace rights and responsibilities. The agreement is negotiated through collective bargaining, where representatives from both the union and the employer discuss and reach mutually agreed-upon terms. Once ratified, the collective agreement provides protection for CUPE members, ensuring that their rights are upheld and offering a structured process for resolving disputes or disagreements in the workplace.

CSS

In our CSS Units (NOYFSS, TPCS and SCS),  the majority of our Collective Agreement is the Provincial CSS General Services Collective Agreement. This document is negotiated at the provincial level, and covers most of the issues listed above. Each unit also has a “Memorandum of Agreement on Local Issues”, which outlines a small number of articles that are specific to that unit, negotiated directly with each employer.

K-12

In our K-12 Units, each unit has a separate Collective Agreement that is negotiated directly with each employer. Each contract also includes the K-12 Provincial Framework Agreement that is negotiated at the provincial level (Incorporated at the end of each file)

Transportation

In our Transportation unit, IFT, we are currently in negotiations with the employer to finalize our initial Collective Agreement.
